Receiving a new removable partial denture can be a very effective option to replace missing teeth and regain their function. While artificial teeth in dental appliances are not vulnerable to the bacteria that causes tooth decay, they still require basic care on a daily basis.

Dr. Shahdad Arami will provide you with customized information on how to keep your partial denture in good shape. Some patients prefer to use a little denture adhesive to secure their partial dentures in their smiles each morning so that there isn’t a gap between the gums and the appliance to allow food particles to build up in the area.

When removing your partial denture for the night, thoroughly rinse it to wash off any traces of food particles or denture adhesive, and then use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive cleaner to brush the artificial teeth and surrounding pink base to remove bacteria.

Once you have safely stored away the appliance, remember to brush and floss your natural teeth as part of your daily dental habits. We also encourage you to maintain healthy gums so that your removable denture can remain comfortably in place on a stable foundation. When flossing, be sure to address your gum line and the teeth neighboring on either side of the gap.
