As you may already know, tooth decay and enamel erosion can attack your teeth on a regular basis and wear them down, causing many major dental issues. This is why it’s important to do all you can to expose your chompers to fluoride each day. To help you do so, Dr. Shahdad Arami and our dental team have some helpful recommendations.

First, ask for a fluoride treatment at Northridge Dental Group. When you come into our office for your six-month checkup, your treatment will generally come in the form of a foam, gel or varnish and it will strengthen and nourish your teeth. To make the treatment more enjoyable, it will likely be flavored.

Second, use fluoride oral hygiene products. It’s best to brush your teeth twice a day—every morning and every night—with fluoride toothpaste that has earned the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance. This will help you nourish and care for your smile regularly. Also, if you rinse your mouth once a day with fluoride mouthwash, your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and strengthened.

Third, use natural fluoride sources. For your convenience, your city provides fluoridated water in the local water system. So, if you drink enough tap water, you will receive the fluoride exposure your teeth need. You can also find fluoridated water in specific brands of bottled water. Lastly, there are some foods you can eat that can increase your fluoride intake. Those foods are spinach, pickles, carrots, tomatoes and asparagus. For more food tips, please talk to Dr. Shahdad Arami.

If you do these things, you’ll be on the right track toward a strong and healthy smile.
