Don’t Ignore Tooth Pain

Lingering tooth pain isn’t “just a toothache.” Often, it’s a sign of a much more serious problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. If you have a tooth that’s been bugging you for a while, don’t put off a visit with Dr. Shahdad Arami any longer.

Let’s take a look at what could happen if you do ignore tooth pain.

Could indicate infection

If you have tooth pain that won’t go away, it could indicate that you have an infection. If your pulp – the bundle of nerves and blood vessels inside your tooth – becomes infected, you’ll need a root canal to fix the problem. An infection can also cause tooth death.

Cavities

Chronic pain may also be a sign that you have a cavity. If you let a cavity go too long without treating it, the decay will spread from the original tooth to surrounding teeth, meaning you’ll need that much more restoration work if you hope to have your teeth as healthy as possible.

Gum disease

Tooth pain may also point to gum disease. If your tooth pain is associated with red, swollen gums that bleed easily, then it’s likely that you have gingivitis, a mild – but serious – form of gum disease. This can cause tooth if you don’t treat it quickly.

It’s time to get back your life and rid yourself of that annoying tooth pain. If this is an issue you’ve been dealing with, call us today at 818-886-6100 to schedule an appointment.
