A Chipped Tooth in the Front of Your Mouth Might Require a Composite Dental Filling

Your front teeth play an important role in biting off food. The teeth that appear in your smile also appear in many of your facial expressions. It’s also worth noting that certain things can place your front teeth at increased risk of suffering a chip or a dental fracture.

This is even more likely to occur if you have a tendency of using your teeth to open a package, or you nervously nibble on your fingernails. Athletes choose not to use a mouth guard at the required times are also at a very high risk of suffering a chipped front tooth.

If a tooth is chipped and the damaged area of tooth enamel is small, Dr. Shahdad Arami might be able to repair it with a composite dental filling.

Once the tooth has been sufficiently numbed, Dr. Shahdad Arami will then remove a minute amount of additional tooth enamel to prepare the smooth surface for the dental filling.

Composite dental fillings are made from a special type of dental plastic that can be perfectly shaded to match the surrounding tooth enamel. This makes them a good choice for repairing a chip that’s visible in your smile.

Once it has been applied and shaped to be flush with the surrounding tooth enamel, Dr. Shahdad Arami will use a special ultraviolet light to cure the dental filling in place.
